From the Editor
Economic development is the result of being strategic in leadership, organization, and planning. Traditions are changing and information is available but useful information can be difficult to find. GAVEA has made a momentous effort to bring all of these things together here in this publication.
The GAVEA Industry Round Table Report is an annual publication of economic and industry activity in the Antelope Valley. The information has been provided by our community leaders and compiled into a comprehensive resource about our community. It is the result of teamwork and partnerships in our valley.
I am pleased to present this third edition of the GAVEA Industry Round Table Report that has been newly organized and redesigned into a quick reference publication. A new format in the November 2000 issue has expanded to include tables, charts, and graphic art resulting in a more attractive and readable document. It should serve as a resource to local industry and businesses to better serve our community constituents. It is also a resource document designed for economic development planning and future potential businesses considering relocation to the Antelope Valley.
Living in an ever changing world where relocation is an important part of our economy, it is important to have available documentation on who we are as a community. Economic factors, demographics, and quality of life aspects expanded the scope of the publication.
Antelope Valley College, as other employers, is a part of the community. As a community college it is important that we plan for a future growth to serve the educational and training needs of the community. This information tells us who we are and where we are located in Southern California. It has been a pleasure to work with Harvey Holloway and Larry Grooms at GAVEA; and with the community members who contributed in producing this document. I hope you will find it to be a useful reference. I especially would like to recognize the talents and efforts of Nina Knef, the graphic designer from Antelope Valley College.
