Corporate & Community Education

Contract Education

AVC's Corporate and Community Education Division develops, implements, and delivers job training and contract services to community businesses. Contract education is an economic development initiative which is designed to train employees and solve business problems at a substantial savings to local business and industry.

The Customer Service Academy is a continuing Contract Education program launched this year.

Designed to develop a comprehensive training program which provides individuals with the basic skills and job training needed for employment in Customer Service. Starwood Hotels and Resorts worked

with the Antelope Valley College in creating the academy. Through the college, potential employees were trained to work specifically at the new call center in Lancaster. Starwood offered paid training for all

of the candidates selected.

This year Antelope Valley College completed a training contract for 500 Rite Aid Corporation employees and is currently providing SR Technics America training development with potentially thousands of employees over the next six years. Skill development is in the areas of computer skills, software applications, customer service training, forklift training, and office technology.

Aerospace Training Center

Three years ago the Antelope Valley College and the Aerospace Alliance consortium implemented an initial training program designed to develop aircraft skillsblueprint reading, structural assembly, electrical assemblyand work ethic and team building skills. Current employees received training in cross-functional tasks and new program areas.

The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and Employment Training Panel provide grants that support the training programs through the Antelope Valley One-Stop Career Center. Training curricula is being developed cooperatively with SR Technics experts and college curriculum specialists which includes an

on-site daily operations manager/trainer.
